Taapsee Pannu starrer drama film ‘Thappad’ is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, the most popular website for watching quality Indian movies in HD print. The movie was released on 28 Feb 2020, and received positive reviews from critics and audience for being hard-hitting and realistic. Director Anubhav Sinha’s direction and Taapsee Pannu’s (female lead) portrayal of a realistic housewife won hearts hands down.
THAPPAD is the story of a woman fighting a tough and yet unique battle. Amrita (Taapsee Pannu) is a housewife and is happily married to Vikram (Pavail Gulati), and the couple is settled in Delhi. Vikram works in a reputed multinational company and is desperately looking forward to an work opportunity which will open a window to a visit to London. Amrita knows how important this is to Vikram. She loves him with all her heart and her entire life revolves around him and in attending to his mother (Sulochana) played by Tanvi Azmi.
Luckily for Vikram, he gets selected for the London stint and the same night he decides to throws a party in his house to celebrate the same. All was going well until he gets a call from his superior who informs Vikram that he won’t be getting the desired profile that he was looking for in London and that he’ll have to report to an authority over there. Taken aback, Vikram confronts Rajhans, another superior of Vikram who was present in the party. Things heat up between them and Amrita steps in to pacify them. In the heat of the moment, Vikram slaps Amrita. With that one moment her whole world comes crashing down. She tries to move on with her life but is just not able to.
Vikram shows constant regret when he realizes that Amrita has been hurt by his actions and tries to console her but it doesn’t work for her. Amrita hence decides to shift to her parents’ house (played by Kumud Mishra and Ratna Pathak Shah). Vikram tries to stop her and later even comes to take her back. He then sends a legal notice to her. Amrita’s brother Karan’s (Ankur Rathee) girlfriend Swati (played by Naila Grewal) suggests that Amrita should show this letter to Nethra (Maya Sarao), a reputed lawyer and Swati’s boss. Nethra in turn suggests that Amrita should solve this issue amicably within the family walls. Amrita however doesn’t want to do that and insists on a divorce. What happens next forms the remaining part of the film.
Anubhav Sinha and Mrunmayee Lagoo Waikul’s story writing is simply superb and applause-worthy. In a society where repeated acts of violence committed by husbands on their wives are passed on as fairly common, it requires guts to pull off a movie like this. The screenplay (script consultant: Anjum Rajabali) helps a lot in ensuring that the audiences get moved with the vision of the team. They very well portray the situation and the fact that patriarchy is so deeply ingrained in our psyche, not just in case of men but also women. The dialogues are acidic and sharp and add to the overall impact of the movie watching experience. Some of them end up simplifying the proceedings but that can be considered to work in favour of the film.
As far as business is concerned, Thappad performed quite well at the box office. However as it happens with most Bollywood releases, the film’s business was affected because several piracy websites leaked it on the day of release. Piracy websites like Filmyzilla, Filmyzilla and Tamilrockers are notorious for leaking the movie within hours of its release. The movie is still available for free download on several free but illegal piracy websites.
Once again, Tamilrockers the famous site known for releasing pirated movies, started their black exploits. According to rumor mills, the website has uploaded the freshly released Hindi Language, Drama film Thappad full movie download 9xmovies, Bolly4U, Filmyzilla on its site. People are searching for keywords like Thappad Full Movie download full HD video quality 1080p to 720p.
